Touadéra: The Ultimate Winner

In this "remainder of a country"—as Boganda used to call it—Touadéra does whatever he pleases; the listless population, more concerned with finding food, says nothing. He brought in the Russians and accepted—in exchange for money—migrants expelled from the US by that lunatic Trump, all without consulting a soul. And why would he? After all, no one says a word. With the opposition muzzled and institutions under his thumb, he can even hope to die in office; cheating is so easy, and he can change the Constitution—that "white man's paper"—whenever he likes. People don't read anyway; 98% of them are illiterate. And the African Union, turning a blind eye, applauds enthusiastically. What is its purpose, anyway? From the outside, nobody gives a damn about this small, landlocked tyranny. Besides, they’re just Black people, and—as everyone knows—they don't know how to run a country. They always need a master looking over their shoulder—the French for a time, the Russians now. What’s actually changed? And the country is still living off the legacy of Bokassa—stuck fifty years in the past. Who does that bother? Ultimately, it’s no wonder those who leave the country never come back. Who would be crazy enough to return?
