Raymond Adouma’s Criticisms

On the June 13, 2026, broadcast of the Patara program on Radio Ndékè-Luka, Raymond Adouma—a former minister and member of the BRDC opposition coalition—denounced the fact that half the population is starving; more broadly, he condemned the country’s social collapse and the destitution of its people. Specifically, three out of four citizens are currently surviving below the poverty line on an income of less than a thousand francs a day. This extreme precariousness has resulted in widespread food insecurity—with a large portion of the population eating only one meal a day—while the high cost of living exacerbates household distress. Expanding his critique, he addressed the state of national hospitals, which lack everything from essential medicines to basic equipment, leading to a massive spike in mortality rates. National roads are virtually non-existent, reduced to dusty tracks that cut off provinces from the rest of the country and stifle the economy. He concluded by stating that this state of disrepair is the direct result of the current leadership clinging to power. Adouma criticized the decision to retain 72% of government officials whom he deems incompetent—a choice driven solely by the desire for political loyalty and regime stability, at the expense of the public interest. This mass reappointment of the old administrative elite eliminates any prospect of change or economic recovery for a nation whose economy has stagnated for years. Furthermore, he criticized the haphazard management of natural resources, which is conducted according to Touadéra’s personal interests; for instance, regarding gold mining in Andesma, revenues from these concessions account for only four percent of total state income. Where did the rest go? Regarding the Touadéra pact concerning deportees from the United States—who are housed in buildings on Avenue Conjugo in the capital—he complains that no one was consulted on the matter and criticizes the government's silence regarding it.
