Humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic

A glance at OCHA’s weekly humanitarian report reveals that in the Central African Republic – 7th Republic or not (which is just hot air for the gullible) – there are still more than 2.3 million people, or nearly half the population, in need of humanitarian assistance. Not to mention the some 428,000 people who are internally displaced. As the country is incapable of doing anything for them, apart from making demagogic speeches, to assist this population in distress, the humanitarian community would need $264.1 million . Unfortunately, it has received only $44.7 million, or 16.9% of the budget. This is the summary of the OCHA report on the country’s humanitarian situation, published at the beginning of May 2026. However, according to Médecins du Monde, nearly three-quarters of the population is living below the poverty line. It states precisely: “The Central African Republic (CAR) is plagued by numerous armed conflicts that are causing a severe humanitarian crisis, as well as a steady increase in violations of human rights and international humanitarian law. The collapse of the country’s economic situation, the emergence of new areas and forms of violent conflict, rising food insecurity and inflation are exacerbating an already extremely fragile political and economic situation, in a country where nearly three-quarters of the population lives ‘below the poverty line.’ He added: "In the Central African Republic, the population is severely affected by the clashes taking place between armed groups. Operations to secure the territory, carried out by the Central African Armed Forces and their allies (Russian and Rwandan), who have been accused of violence and arbitrary arrests, are causing panic and displacement. One in four Central Africans is displaced, either within the country or in a neighbouring country, and lives in very difficult conditions, with very limited access to basic services." And the other lunatic who talks about a 7th Republic simply does not understand the realities, which are nevertheless stark.
