The BRDC CRITICISES Touadéra

Well! The clash was easy, since it came from the political opposition, the BRDC to be precise, and more specifically, comments made by Mboli-Goumba on 26 April, during a press conference held in Bangui, where he lambasted Mr Touadéra, accused of plunging the CAR into chaos. And the problems cited are numerous: water and electricity shortages, dilapidated roads, schools under the trees, etc. The BRDC is letting off steam... Yet in 2016, when Touadéra was elected, people were full of hope; 10 years on, life is worse than it was in the Bokassa era. Half the population manages barely one meal a day; the other half, no meals at all. The Central African people have been facing daily hardships since 2016. What sort of country is this where people are proud to dig wells just to get water? As for electricity, there are power cuts upon power cuts, despite the Head of State’s promises. Insecurity is rising in Bangui, with frequent robberies in the districts and their surroundings. In the rest of the country, it is worse; for example, in the east, the security situation has deteriorated due to the appalling handling of the Azande militia. In the west, it is just as bad; dismembered bodies are being found there. School infrastructure, where it exists, is in a deplorable state. Parent-teachers make up 67% of the teaching staff, which would explain the decline in children’s academic standards across the country. The country’s only university lacks everything; as for the hospitals, health centres and clinics, they are little more than death camps. Yet the subsoil is very rich, but poorly exploited, if at all. And the government remains isolated from the international financial community. The state has not built a republican army capable of defending the territory; it would not last two hours under heavy fire. Security relies on Wagner mercenaries, MINUSCA or bilateral agreements with foreign powers. The state does not pay salaries due to a lack of funds; on top of that, the country loses swathes of territory every year along its borders. What will Touadéra do now that he has failed to do in 10 years? The BRDC makes a stark assessment and calls on the people to mobilise to defend their freedom and dignity.
